We all carried on with our select jobs and giving one another feedback as we went on. We got to a point that a few of the group were not totally satisfied with the current visual identity and felt it didn’t look too consistent across every application down to everyone having separate jobs. I put forward a new visual identity. The new proposed identity Is a simpler, more minimal design with a type based logotype, dropping any iconography. I used the Bookmania typeface. I chose the typeface as its similar to the current brand, though the type is thicker, more legible and sits better in context. The design uses a colour palette of three simple pastel, muted colours. The colours are intended to be eye catching while not being overly bright and garish. The colour way would have one primary colour way (pink) that would effectively communicate the content, hold text well and be legible from varying distances, with the three way colour palette being used for variation for applications such as Instagram and smaller flyers that are interacted with at close range. We put the design to a vote and although the majority vote was in favour of implementing the design, some members of the group felt that it would be a lot of work to try and change certain things and didn’t feel it would benefit the identity or the pitch.
